Attractions offer discounts/free admissions
Many places in Lincoln and the county will be offering discounts and free admission during the Discover Lincolnshire Weekend on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th March 2015. Attractions include Lincoln Castle Lincoln Cathedral and Gunby Hall. A full list of participating venues will be available once finalised at http://www.visitlincolnshire.com/DLW.aspx The local National Trust's Gunby Hall is our recommendation with free entry to the house and gardens. Just 12 minutes away by car/less than 45 minutes by bicycle. Their tea room is also worth a visit too for homemade cakes and sweet treats.
Golden Vistas
You don't have to step far from the cottages to see daffodils fluttering and dancing in the breeze to lift your spirits on a chilly Spring day. Travel towards Spalding to see whole fields of gold - Lincolnshire is one of the UK's main daffodil growing areas and home to Taylors Bulbs that were awarded The Royal Warrant as Bulb Growers to Her Majesty The Queen.
Something for the professional/amateur Birder
Varied Spring birdsong can be heard from the cottage gardens listening to it is a proven tonic for your well-being. You can see & hear some clips on our YouTube Channel. Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve opened in 1949 is just 18 miles away where hundreds of thousands of birds of many species fly through or over to make landfall there during the course of the year. There are in fact few periods when there are no bird movements or migrations to be expected.
Mother's Day - Sunday 15th March 2015
At the time of writing we still have availability for anyone who wants to treat a Mum or indeed yourself to a weekend away to celebrate Mother's Day.
